Kate Lehman was born in London in 1968. She grew up in Paris where her parents constantly opened the doors to a rich and eclectic cultural life for her. From the age of 15, she devoted herself full time to her artistic education and joined the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, the Académie Roederer and the Leconte workshop. Unable to find in this training what she was looking for in Art, she moved to New York and worked briefly in the film industry. In 1994, she joined the Minnesota River School. The discipline, technical demands and artistic freedom she found there were a revelation for Kate. There she also met the painter Patrick Devonas who would have a major influence on her work and on the artist she is today. In 1996, Kate Lehman studied at the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn run by Jacob Collins and Rick Piloco.

Kate Lehman’s work has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries in the United States and Europe. She currently lives between New York and Paris with her husband Travis Schlaht and their two children.
